A mouthguard is a protective device that covers the teeth and gums to prevent or reduce injury to the mouth, teeth, and surrounding tissues. It is commonly used in sports to protect against impacts and also to treat conditions like bruxism (teeth grinding) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Mouthguards can be custom-fitted by a dentist or purchased as stock or “boil-and-bite” options.
